Most people consider the Winter Solstice (yesterday 12/21) as the official start of winter. Meteorologists consider December 1st the first day of winter.
Fall Snow
If you go based on the astronomical start of winter, we got quite a bit of snow this year before the start of winter.
I’m generally a snow lover, but honestly wouldn’t mind a nice break from the snow right about now.
