A couple pictures from the trailcam… one of a doe… and a second shot showing the doe with another deer in the background…
S.P. I see your trailcam has a visible flash. Mine has an IR flash, so I get ghostly black and white deer pictures. Here’s a picture of a doe with 3 good legs
http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq51/palmer2/bldoe.jpg She’s been hopping along since I first saw her with two fawns in early 2007. She uses the bad leg as a pendulum so she can hop a bit with other leg. She hopped through deep snow and can even gallop as fast as the other deer if she needs to (which is not often around here)
Pretty neat… a year or so ago, I saw a buck getting around pretty well on 3 legs (1 was completely missing) but I didn’t get any pictures. I guess the bad thing about a visible flash (mine can be turned off) is that someone can locate and steal the camera more easily… but mine isn’t really exposed to passers-by.
