Three Wildfires Burning in Virginia

June 28, 2012

Three wildfires are currently burning in Virginia. The Point #2 fire on the Massanutten Mountain Ridge (in George Washington National Forest) west of Front Royal is the largest, currently affecting 1000 353 acres. Here on the Blue Ridge east of Front Royal, I could smell the smoke fairly strongly last night, although today it was less noticeable.

The other two fires are in Shenandoah National Park, one on Neighbor Mountain (north of Rte 211) and the other on Skinner Ridge (just south of 211).

The best source to follow news on these fires is the Shenandoah Valley Fire Facebook page.

Update: The smoke is pretty noticeable again tonight. Slight wind is from the WSW.
