The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute puts on an open house the second weekend in October. This year was the second time we attended. In addition to red pandas, the open house also presents an opportunity to see cranes, bison, and a clydesdale horse in a bucolic setting. The site is located on Rte 522 just south of Front Royal, Virginia.
