N&W #611 Returns!

June 17, 2016

The 1950 Norfolk and Western Class J steam locomotive #611 made a return appearance this year again crossing the Appalachian Trail National Scenic Corridor at Manassas Gap near Linden, Virginia. Here are a couple of videos from Sunday June 5, 2016. An early morning rain caused the 611 to slip her drivers on the wet rails several times while climbing Linden Hill where the railway crosses the Blue Ridge Mountains.
