Snowy Sunday Coming for Virginia

I added a link to a VA Meteorology Facebook site I found this winter. Check out the prediction for Sunday, February 19, 2012.

In other news, I need to get caught up on posting trail cam pics so look for those over the coming days…

Local Puppet Predicts Six More Weeks of Winter

Six More Weeks of Winter?

On Saturday, February 4, 2012, Bowman Bill (link to Jeff Taylor photo) predicted six more weeks of winter at Bowman Library in Stephens City, Virginia. After three (1, 2, 3) small snow events this past week and waking up to 13F temperatures this morning, so far it looks like the furry groundhog puppet was correct.

Or an Early Spring?

On the other hand, I found a dog tick on my arm after working in the woods this past Friday. Additionally, last week’s European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasts weekly run of their monthly forecast points to warmer temperatures ahead:

Is spring right around the corner? According to the updated ECMWF weekly model, it is for the eastern two-thirds of Canada and the U.S. The groundhog had other ideas.

Only time will tell what winter has left in store for us.

PM Snow Update

A snow squall passed through dropping another half inch of snow over a short period of time this afternoon bringing the event total to 2 inches here at Old Dominion Wildlife Headquarters.

Elsewhere, thundersnow was reported. Check out this video from Richmond:
