I stopped the car and moved this box turtle out of the road. I put him off to the side in the direction it appeared to be going.

Thursday, July 16th, 2009This box turtle picture was taken in our backyard. According to Amphibians & Reptiles of the Carolinas and Virginia, adult female eastern box turtles brown or yellow eyes, whereas males often have red eyes.
