This picture was discussed on the Yahoo Eastern Mountain Lion Group and also at the PATC Trails Forum.  Although I am a “believer,” I think this particular photograph is of a bobcat.

From some angles, bobcats may look a bit lion-ish.  Here’s a photo I took a couple of years ago that is somewhat similar to the one in question.  This second photo is of the same cat, obviously a bobcat in this shot.

Also on the Yahoo Eastern Mountain Lion Group, this Youtube video was posted.  One theory is that the video is not of a mountain lion, but rather of a large house cat. The family that shot the video seem convinced it was quite large though.

3/18/2007–I photographed these tracks appearing to be consistent with mountain lion tracks. After posting to Yahoo’s EasternCougar Group, the consensus was that the photo is inconclusive due to snow melt having erased track details.

May 2006–My wife and I were jogging on a gravel road in Warren County when we saw a mountain lion up ahead in the distance. We both stopped in our tracks. We did not have a camera with us; however, I have since tried to carry one at all times.

There have been other sightings in the area, as Cougar Quest indicates. My hope is to provide photographic evidence of the Eastern Mountain Lion.
